Welcome to Cherbourg

In the centre of Cherbourg you will find pedestrian streets, 17th and 18th century houses with shale stone facades, courtyards and passages to discover. Marine transportation can get your yacht or sailing craft there for further exploring over attractive waterways in and near Cherbourg.
The Basilique de la Trinité was built by William the Conqueror, altered in the 15th and 19th centuries.
Another place of interest is the Abbaye de Voeu that was founded in 1145 and extensively damaged during World War II. The chapter house, the 12th century Norman cellars and the 13th century refectory are still admirable.
One of the few Italian style theatres erected in France is the Cherbourg Theatre.
You can also visit some churches, like the Eglise de Tollevast, one of the Cotentin's most beautiful Norman churches, dating from the 12th century, and the Eglise Saint-Germain de Querqueville, one of the oldest churches in the Manche. Again, marine transportation of your water vessel to this quaint and historic locale can mean hours and days of beautiful and memorable adventuring with the sky above your head and your trusted boat beneath your feet.
