North West Europe
North West Europa ia a region of very civilised cruising.
Cruising along the North Sea coast via The Netherlands and Belgium to France can be very challenging on account of the strong tides, sand banks and onshore winds.
France is one of the leading sailing nations in the world, blessed with both an Atlantic and a Mediterranean coastline.
The western coast divides into three distinct areas, the most popular and picturesque being the Brittany coast, which has many navigable rivers and the Morbihan inland sea.
The central area to the Gironde has several offlying islands as well as the great rivers, the Loire and the Gironde, which lead into the inland waterways.
The lowlying area stretching to the Spanish border is the least appealing as a cruising destination.
